2022 in Review, An Organization 17 Years Stronger

27 Dec, 2022 | 0 Comments | Return|

To say this year flashed by is an understatement. It only seems like yesterday the world was getting ready to step into 2022, and here we are, ready to welcome the year 2023. As we prepare to start the new year with a different set of promises and resolutions, let’s look back at all the great work we accomplished together. HHRD celebrated 17 years of service this year. Everything that the organization has accomplished is only possible with the continuous help of its esteemed donors, patrons, and dedicated staff members, who have been with HHRD at every step.

Together this year, we have changed 8,541,709 lives! In August, HHRD held its first Day of Service event on World Humanitarian Day, where regional teams and volunteers gathered to pack In-Kind containers for refugees and needy people. In 2022, 146 In-Kind containers packed with food, clothes, daily essentials, and so much more were delivered to some of the neediest people around the world, including Jordan and Lebanon. The love and support from donors gave HHRD the resources to support 24,450 orphans this year alone. The organization’s commitment to serving humanity made it possible to send prompt emergency and disaster relief to nine countries that underwent severe humanitarian crises this year.

In addition to the millions of people who benefited from HHRD’s efforts in 2022, donors participated in the Matching Gifts Program, supporting the organization’s never-ending efforts. 500 Fortune companies matched their employees’ donations and volunteer hours, which helped double the impact of the donations made to HHRD’s 13 programs and emergency relief campaigns. Another brilliant initiative that continued in 2022 was HHRD’s involvement with Amazon Smile. 0.5% of eligible purchases on Amazon were donated to HHRD and used to further the great work. HHRD also became a registered charity with PayPal Give, which helps users support their favorite charities.

Another highlight from 2022 is HHRD’s Giving is Living podcast. This one-of-a-kind podcast, launched in April, focuses on the incredible work of our programs and reflects on the stories of HHRD’s beneficiaries told by veteran leaders. The podcast goes live on the first Friday of every month with behind-the-scenes work and results of how donations from the organization’s supporters help change lives.

As we celebrate the amazing work that Helping Hand for Relief and Development has done in 2022, we cannot forget one of the organization’s longest-serving members. Towards the end of the year, Brother Saqib Attique departed this world to meet his Creator, leaving behind over a decade's legacy of unparalleled work and dedication as Assistant Director of the Development team. As we say goodbye to 2022, we pray his journey ahead is full of ease and comfort.

HHRD thanks all its donors and supporters for their generous and continued contributions to help those who need it most. We welcome the new year with loving hearts and open arms and promise to serve humanity to the best of our abilities.
