On June 8, 2026, a powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck just off the coast of Maasim, Sarangani, devastating communities across southern Philippines. More than 1.6 million people have been affected across Regions IX, XI, XII, and The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). As of June 29, over 77 people have lost their lives, 1,300 have been injured, and 31 remain missing. More than 9,400 aftershocks have been recorded, leaving families living in fear as thousands remain displaced and in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.

HHRD's emergency response builds upon years of humanitarian work in the Philippines. Through trusted local partnerships, HHRD currently supports 400 orphans, provides educational assistance to 90 students, empowers nearly 100 youth and women through Skills Development and Livelihood initiatives, distributes wheelchairs to individuals with disabilities, serves more than 5,000 people through its Ramadan Food Program, and provides over 1,600 Qurbani meals annually.
