What does forty years of instability lead to? Deepening levels of poverty, record levels of hunger and a malnutrition crisis of unparalleled proportions. Decades of civil unrest in Afghanistan have left more than 3,500,000 displaced people with nowhere to turn and 60% desperately in need of humanitarian assistance, mostly women and children. Your support will help mobilize our efforts to provide immediate assistance to those in need.
With the average head of household earning $1.37 a day, less than $500 a year—even lower for female-led households—95% of Afghanistan’s vulnerable population is not getting enough food to eat, and more than 3.5 million children are suffering from acute malnutrition. HHRD’s new initiative will aim not only to end food insecurity for thousands of families but also to empower them with the skills needed to build and sustain a more hopeful future.
HHRD was registered as an International NGO in 2014 by the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan. Currently, HHRD programs support: *1,750+ Orphans (includes Education, Food, Healthcare, Activities, etc.) *24,000+ through Water for Life (water pump, hygiene kits & training) *365 Trainees through Skills Development and Livelihood *72,000+ through Healthcare & Nutrition and more
