Authentic Palestinian Chicken Shawarma (Home-Style)
Serves 4–6
You’ll need:
How to prepare:
-
Place spices, yogurt, lemon, and olive oil together in a bowl and mix well.
-
Cut the chicken into thin slices and add it to the mixture. Integrate everything well together, then let it marinate for 2-4 hours or overnight.
-
Heat the skillet on medium-high and place the chicken.
-
Grill chicken on both sides until it's fully cooked.
-
Once grilled, slice the chicken into thinly sliced pieces, similar to shaved shawarma.
-
To serve, place chicken shawarma, cabbage, pickles, and sliced onions with sumac on top of flatbread, then drizzle with tahini sauce.
This meal is traditionally served family-style, meant to be shared, passed, and enjoyed together. [Recipe credit: palestineinadish.com]
