Students and their families as well as schools and local leaders each play a critical role in educating the next generation and strengthening the economic vitality and social health of our communities. HHRD recognizes education as a basic human right and one of the most direct and viable pathways out of poverty.
We believe that graduating from a four-year degree program after intermediate is the most effective means for our students to earn higher lifetime incomes, have better health outcomes, and enjoy fulfilling lives. There are many students who despite their highest academic honors are unable to attend higher education because of the high tuition costs of many higher education institutions. These scholarships are for talented but needy students.
Asif Ali, a 21-year-old from Kashmore, Sindh, faced financial hardships with six siblings after his father's accidental death in 2010. Despite adversity, his mother's support was pivotal. Currently, one brother works in a Super Store while the others pursue education. Through Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD), Asif completed a BS in Mechanical Engineering, excelling in his final project. Now a trainee engineer, his success highlights the transformative impact of HHRD's programs. Asif's journey, from HHRD's Orphan Support Program in 2013 to the Education Support Program in 2017, showcases determination and resilience. Without HHRD's support, his education would have been impossible, making his story an inspiration for those facing similar challenges.
