HHRD’s 2nd Annual Ramadan Story Writing Contest

Returning for its second year, Voices of Compassion invites young Muslim writers to share powerful stories rooted in Islamic values and inspired by the spirit of Ramadan.
This contest encourages youth to reflect on compassion, perseverance, generosity, and faith through meaningful storytelling that aligns with HHRD’s mission of serving humanity.

Who Can Participate

• Open to young Muslim writers ages 12–18
• Students and youth interested in storytelling, faith, and humanitarian values

Story Topics/Themes (Choose One)

• When Helping Requires Patience: Explore a story where change does not happen immediately. Show how faith, perseverance, and trust in Allah guide someone through long-term struggle, teaching that meaningful impact often unfolds over time.
• The Responsibility That Comes With Giving: Tell a story about someone who learns that charity is more than generosity, it requires intention, humility, and accountability. Reflect on how giving with sincerity can protect dignity and strengthen communities.
• Choosing Compassion When It Is Difficult: Write about a moment when showing kindness is challenging (across differences, misunderstandings, or hardship) and how faith leads the character to act with mercy, even when it is not easy.
• Word Count: 800–1,000 words
• Format: Typed, double-spaced, PDF or Word document
• Original Work Only: No AI-generated or previously published content

How Stories Are Judged

Stories will be evaluated based on relevance to theme and Islamic values, creativity and originality, writing quality and structure, and emotional impact.

Prizes & Recognition

• Top three winners receive an exclusive HHRD prize
• Winning stories will be featured on HHRD’s website and shared with the HHRD national family
• All participants receive a certificate of participation
