Catastrophic flooding wreaked havoc in South Africa in mid-April, killing at least 448 people, displacing more than 40,000 more and destroying thousands of homes. The torrential rainfall caused landslides and massive floods in the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal provinces.
HHRD is focusing emergency relief efforts on Durban City, where nearly 12,300 homes were destroyed, as our HHRD Africa team and implementing partners conduct needs assessments. Families are being given food packages and essentials such as blankets, clothing, and other household items in this initial phase. Your support will help families who have lost everything.
