Following the record earthquakes in Türkiye and Northwestern Syria, HHRD has been conducting relief operations in the region since day one. After weeks of emergency assistance with food and other supplies, it is now time to help rebuild the homes and lives that came to a halt. HHRD is on the ground helping construct homes and WASH facilities for Syrian families. $5,000 can help build a 2-bedroom, fully equipped home, while $12,000 can sponsor a WASH facility in Syria. Donate today to help sustain lives.
HHRD volunteers and staff members have helped provide emergency relief to Turkish locals since the first day following the dreadful calamity. The road to rehabilitation will be a long one. But with your help, we can continue to support the people in Türkiye with daily essentials. HHRD plans to send at least 84,000 hot meals to Türkiye by April 20th, 2023. In addition, more than 8,700 Ramadan baskets, 200 animals for Eid-ul-Adha Qurbani, and In-Kind Gifts Containers from the USA will also be sent to help relieve the victims. Help us help them and generously donate to our brothers and sisters during these unimaginable times.
HHRD launched a $10 million appeal for earthquake victims in Türkiye and Syria. Senior staff members from our MENA office in Jordan were among the first responders to arrive in Türkiye just days after the catastrophe hit. HHRD CEO Br. Javaid Siddiqi also arrived in the region to oversee ground relief efforts and personally coordinate operations. The team has provided food provisions to thousands of beneficiaries till now and is coordinating activities with local vetted partner organizations.
In the early hours on February 6, 2023, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake shook Turkey, followed by a 7.6 magnitude quake that struck northern Syria, and flattened countless residential and commercial properties. The epicenter of this calamity is the city of Gaziantep, home to millions of Syrian refugees. Over 47,000 Turkish locals and 6,000 Syrians have died, thousands are injured, and countless victims have been displaced. This is one of the deadliest earthquakes to hit the region in over 100 years.
