Khatma has been living in a refugee camp for the past 8 years with her 11-year-old, disabled son, Izzuddin. As a single mother, she works long hours at the farm across her HHRD Caravan of Hope home for $1 an hour, while others in the camp take care of her son. Syed Amin fled with his family when his village was burned the ground, only to face even more hardship when a massive fire broke out at their refugee camp. He recounts, “I'd never seen such a devastating fire in my life…From our clothes to our food, everything we had was burning into ashes, and we had nothing to do apart from watching all getting destroyed.” HHRD’s emergency relief packages provided Syed’s family and thousands of others much needed aid to get through this difficult time.
